Volunteers needed to help with Learning Kitchen classes

The VT Dept of Health is looking for a volunteer chef and a volunteer food shopper for the “Learning Kitchen”  cooking course to be held in October.

The Learning Kitchen (formerly known as Cooking for Life) classes are designed to improve food security for families with limited budgets. The curriculum for the program was developed in collaboration with the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger and the University of Vermont Extension’s Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).

This 6 week series meets once a week for two-two and half hours.  The 1st hour is nutrition education, 2nd hour is cooking demonstration then folks eat.  Each week participants receive the foods to prepare the recipes from class at home .  Child care for participants will be provided.

A Nutrition Educator from UVM/EFNEP will lead the nutrition education section.  We still need a volunteer shopper (food funds will be provided) as well as a volunteer chef (small stipend  available), who does not need to be a professional, but who should feel comfortable leading a group of 8‐15 participants.

for more information, contact Debbie Diegoli at Valley Food & Farm (debbie@vitalcommunities.org) OR  Rebecca Schubert at the VT Dept. of Health Rebecca.Schubert@ahs.state.vt.us or 802-295-8831
